What are the complimentary boat hours?
From 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every day. After 6:00 p.m. the transfer is scheduled in advance and subject to availability, so let us know early if your flight lands late.
How do we coordinate my boat crossing?
Message us on WhatsApp at +52 322 236 3410 a day before with your estimated arrival time at Boca de Tomatlan, and message us again when you are on your way. We alert the boat captain and confirm the exact meeting point.
What time should I get to Boca de Tomatlan?
We recommend being in Boca de Tomatlan before 5:00 p.m. From Puerto Vallarta airport the drive takes about 40 minutes, and the boat ride to the hotel takes 15 minutes.
What should I bring for the transfer?
Cash in Mexican pesos, shoes you can get wet, a dry bag for electronics, sunscreen and your medication in your carry-on. Landing at Playa El Volador usually means wet feet.
How much luggage can I bring on the boat?
One suitcase and one carry-on per person. If you travel with bulky gear (boards, instruments, wheelchairs) let us know in advance so we can reserve the space.
What happens if the sea is rough?
If conditions do not allow landing at Playa El Volador, the boat arrives at the Quimixto pier. From there it is a 20 to 25 minute walk to the hotel, or you can take the ATV service for an extra cost.
Can I drive my own car?
Yes, as far as Boca de Tomatlan. There is no road to the hotel, so the car stays in a public parking lot in the area. We recommend Parking Playa, around $450 MXN per day.

Arrive in Puerto Vallarta your starting point
Your first stop is Puerto Vallarta, one of the best connected spots on the Pacific coast. You can fly into Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) or arrive at the city's bus terminal. From there, your journey to the south shore of the bay begins.

Boca de Tomatlan is the village where the boat departs from. To get there, we offer a paid transfer service from the airport or bus terminal to Boca de Tomatlan: we arrange it for you, cost available on request. If you prefer to arrive on your own by car, you can leave it at a public parking lot in the area.

Complimentary boat the fun part
Every reservation includes the complimentary boat transfer from Boca de Tomatlan to the hotel. The service runs from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. After 6:00 p.m., transfers are scheduled in advance and are subject to availability. Please stay in touch with us before reaching Boca de Tomatlan to coordinate your crossing.

If sea conditions allow, the boat drops you off directly at Playa El Volador, right in front of the hotel. Wear suitable footwear and protect your belongings, since you may get your feet wet while disembarking. If the sea does not allow landing there, arrival will be at the Quimixto pier, with a 20 to 25 minute walk to the hotel; ATV service is also available for an extra cost.

Boca de Tomatlán is the meeting point. Amaca Beach is a 15 minute boat ride away.

By car
Highway 200 south
Take federal highway 200 south, past Mismaloya, all the way to Boca de Tomatlán. There is no road access to the hotel: leave your car in a public parking lot in the village.

Whales and dolphinsDecember through March
The crossing goes through Banderas Bay, a nursery for humpback whales. From December through March it is common to watch them blow or breach from the boat between Boca de Tomatlan and Quimixto. In summer dolphins and manta rays take over.
