Retreats & private buyouts

A secluded retreat venue, reached only by boat.

Amaca Beach Retreat offers a rare sanctuary for retreats, private gatherings and expert-led residencies. Reachable only by boat and wrapped in jungle, waterfall, river and ocean, this is a place where distraction dissolves and connection deepens.

Host your experience on the Xala, our open-air yoga deck, or reserve the entire hotel for a fully customized all-inclusive retreat. Every offering here is intimate, intentional and immersed in nature, unlike anything else on the Mexican Pacific.

The setting

Where the only soundtrack is the ocean and the jungle.

Some places take effort to reach, and that effort is the point. Amaca Beach Retreat sits on the shore of Quimixto, a small coastal community on the south side of Banderas Bay that has no direct road connecting it to the city; the last stretch is always by boat. Your group leaves Puerto Vallarta behind, crosses from Boca de Tomatlan by boat, and arrives at a beach where the pace changes the moment you step onto the sand.

There are no cars here and no through traffic. Behind the property the jungle climbs toward a waterfall you can hike to, a river runs through the hills, and the Pacific opens up in front of you. That combination of water, forest and quiet is what makes the setting work for a retreat. People arrive carrying the noise of their daily lives, and within a day most of it is gone.

A retreat needs a container. Ours is a whole stretch of coast that the outside world cannot easily interrupt.

Because the hotel is small and the location is protected, a group can take over the entire property and feel like they have the coastline to themselves. That sense of a private world is difficult to manufacture in a larger resort near a city, and it is exactly what facilitators tell us they are looking for.

The retreat package

All-inclusive, built around your program.

We are not a standing all-inclusive resort, and that is on purpose. Instead, we build one package around each retreat so the details serve your work rather than a fixed menu. Once your dates are set, hospitality stops being your job.

The Xala

An open-air deck for practice.

The Xala is our yoga and movement deck, a covered open-air space set among the greenery. It holds a full group for morning practice, breathwork or meditation, with the sound of the water underneath everything.

When a session calls for a different setting, the whole property becomes your studio. Practice on the sand at sunrise, gather in the garden, or move to the beach for a closing circle. Facilitators shape the flow of the day, and we make the spaces ready.

The practice

Yoga on the deck, on the sand and facing the ocean.

Sunrise sessions on the Xala deck, practice on El Volador beach and circles under the entrance tree. Every group picks its setting.

Spa and massage

Treatments in the palapa, with the ocean behind you.

Sixty or ninety minute massages, solo or in pairs, with local therapists and natural oils. They can be scheduled for the whole group inside your retreat program.

Clay ritual

Regional clay, applied facing the ocean.

Natural clay masks and body wraps applied by local therapists on the beach or in the garden. The clay dries in the sun, rinses off in the ocean and finishes with tea and hammock time. It is the group favorite because everyone does it together and it always ends in laughter.

Where your group stays

17 rooms and villas, one private property.

From beachfront suites to garden palapas and two-bedroom villas, your group settles into the whole hotel.

Retreat questions

How do guests reach Amaca Beach Retreat?

Guests travel by road to Boca de Tomatlan, just south of Puerto Vallarta, and then cross to Quimixto by boat in about 15 to 20 minutes. We coordinate the boat transfer for your group so arrivals and departures stay simple, even with a full retreat.

Can we buy out the entire hotel?

Yes. The property can be reserved in full, up to 56 guests across 17 rooms and villas. A full buyout gives your retreat complete privacy, with no other guests on the property.

Is the retreat all-inclusive?

We are not a standing all-inclusive resort, but we build a fully customized all-inclusive package for each retreat: three chef-prepared meals daily, snacks, coffee and tea, curated tours and full hospitality, so facilitators focus only on their program.

Where do sessions take place?

Most practice happens on the Xala, our open-air yoga deck. Depending on the session, the beach, the garden and other natural spaces on the property also work beautifully. We prepare each space to your plan.

What is there to do beyond the sessions?

The waterfall hike, time on the water, the village of Quimixto, spa treatments and simply the beach. We can weave curated experiences into your schedule, or leave open time so guests can rest.

How far in advance should we book?

Because a buyout reserves the whole property, popular dates fill early, especially in the drier months from November to April. Reach out with your dates and group size and we will hold and plan from there.

What about dietary needs and accessibility?

Share your group's dietary requirements and any mobility considerations when you inquire. The kitchen accommodates a range of diets, and our team will walk you through what the boat access and beach setting mean for your group.
